History
Located in Alexandria, Virginia, G2Tactics is a company that specializes in both the mobile and fixed license plate reading markets. G2Tactics was the first company to market both a mobile and portable automatic license plate reader (ALPR); the first to be integrated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Criminal Information Center’s (NCIC) stolen automobile, stolen license plate, and felony vehicle databases; and the first fixed site project integrated with these national law enforcement databases.
In 2002, G2Tactics competed for and won a United States Department of Justice grant to develop a technology for the integration of DoJ databases into an automatic license plate reading device. The resultant devices, the G2Tactics product line, including both PlateFinderTM and BootFinderTM, have since received two additional DoJ grants.
G2Tactics developed and built the first ALPR that can be integrated with the FBI NCIC database. This product was first marketed as GLAVIDTM and was then renamed PlateFinderTM (for application in the law enforcement market) and BootFinderTM (for the parking and tax collection market). Both products use a tri-band infrared camera with a processor to read the license plate and compare the number read to the onboard database of vehicles of interest.
In 2006, G2Tactics was the recipient of a Virginia General Assembly, Joint House Resolution No. 5045, commending the company as "an innovative company focused on the application of advanced technology to the challenges of law enforcement in Virginia and across the nation by developing new products to aid police officers." This prestigious state recognition was subsequent to the company competing for and winning the 10th Annual, "2006 City of Alexandria Technology Achievement Award".
In late 2007 G2Tactics was placed on the New York Office of General Services multi-state contract Group 38232 Award 19745- Hazardous Incident Response Equipment. New York State Office of General Services is the lead agency of this contract. G2Tactics qualified for this contract through an intensive review of our past sales and pricing of our Automatic License Plate Readers (ALPR). New York has several multiple award contracts done in conjunction with the National Association of State Procurement Officials for Homeland Security/disaster response /police/fire type products. The contracts are open for use by all States and territories in the United States and their political entities (if allowed by the State).
